Donald Matthew “Matt” Gibson, 57, of Henrico, Virginia, passed away at home on September 13, 2026. Born with a natural talent for working with his hands, Matt built a life defined by craftsmanship, loyalty, and a deep love for the outdoors.

For 20 years, Matt was a dedicated employee of RGI Construction Company. The past 12 years he served RGI as a Superintendent. A Master Carpenter, he poured skill and pride into every project he touched. His work left a lasting mark across the Metro Richmond area, where countless homes, buildings, and people benefited from his expertise and steady presence.

Outside of work, Matt was happiest under an open sky. Matt liked to hunt, target shoot, and was an avid fisherman. He cherished time spent with friends and family in the outdoors. Whether riding off road four wheelers with his closest friends or simply enjoying nature’s quiet moments, Matt lived life fully and with joy. Matt was a fabulous cook and loved grilling and entertaining family and friends.

Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Gibson and Patty Robertson Marrow. He is survived by his beloved wife, Angela, the love of his life, and his cherished daughter, Kensi, who brought him endless pride and happiness.

Matt is survived by his step father, Bernie Marrow, his three sisters, Kim (Tom), Amy (Troy), Kelly (Kyle), and his two brothers, Scott (Tammy) and Mike. He also had several cousins, nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly.

Matt will be remembered for his infectious laugh, witty sense of humor, generosity, his craftsmanship, his adventurous spirit, and the love he shared so freely with those around him.

Angela would like to give a special thanks to the staff and employees of RGI Construction Company for their kind and loving support during the last several months. She also would like to thank Chas Heng for starting the Go Fund me site that helped Angela during this very difficult time.
