Mr. David Pernell Jackson, age 88, of Henrico, Va., went home to be with His Lord and Savior, on July 19, 2026.

Born to the late James Ollie Jackson, Sr. and Virginia M. Brown on February 12, 1938, in Short Pump, Va., Mr. Jackson was a lifelong pillar of faith, strong family values, and service to his country.

David dedicated his life to his family and to the service of others. He was an involved member of the North Gayton Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. In addition to his roles in church leadership, he also served as a member of the North Gayton Baptist Church Men’s Choir, the Senior Choir, and the Combined Choir, where he lifted his voice in praise of his Savior.

A man of profound sense of duty, David served in the United States Army where he was assigned to the Nike Missile Battery at Fort Story, Virginia. David’s strong work ethic continued in his professional life where he gave many years of service to Phillip Morris Tobacco Company. David enjoyed the simple pleasures of life spending time with his family, tending to his flower gardens, and fishing with friends.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his wife, Flortinia Jackson.

Left to cherish David’s memory is his daughter, Tracey Hooker (Tracy) of Henrico, Va.; his son, Rodger Jackson (Debrina) of Chesapeake, Va.; four grandchildren, Quinton and Ciera Jackson, and Savion and Tianna Hooker; one great granddaughter, Sa’Rai Hooker; his brother-in-law, Roger Dargan (Lorretta) of Houston, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at North Gayton Baptist Church, 3244 Pump Rd, Ridge, Va. 23233, with Pastor Carl Claiborne officiating.

Interment follows the service at North Gayton Baptist Church Cemetery.
