Obituary - Alma Reed Ballard

Alma Ballard, 99, of Henrico, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Ballard.

Alma was a former member of Sandston Baptist Church, and she loved flowers and gardening, but most of all, her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Durrette and her husband, Alvin; a son, Boyd Ballard; her 4 granddaughters, Laurie, Jennifer, Patty and Carolyn; her great-grandchildren, Kevin, Patrick and Kelsey; and a large circle of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave, Richmond, VA 23231, where a funeral service will be held 12pm on Friday, May 15, 2026. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.

Flowers are welcome, or donations may be made in her name to the Newbridge Baptist Church Building Fund.

She had the best caretakers who supported her well from the company, Home Instead.
