Alice "Dean" Gardner Luck, 92, formerly of Henrico, Virginia, passed away on May 2, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Earl Gardner and Margaret Lillian (Dickinson) Gardner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sherman P. Luck; three sisters, Peggy McMahan, Elsie Carneal, and Debra Cornwell; and one brother, Bernard Gardner.

Dean is survived by her daughter, Judith Luck Cole (David); her son, Gary Payne Luck; her grandchildren, Rebekah L. Mallory (Chris) and Jackson T. Luck; her daughter-in-law, Lisa M. Luck; and two brothers, J. Russell Gardner and W. Harris Gardner.

After high school, Dean married her sweetheart, Sherman P. Luck, and they shared more than 72 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on September 7, 2025. She worked as a school bus driver for 18 years and also spent several years as a dental assistant. A faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for 65 years, Dean devoted much of her time to teaching Sunday School and serving her church community.

Dean loved to travel and created many cherished memories camping with her family, enjoying ten cruises, and spending time with friends. She was deeply devoted to caring for her family and community-always making thoughtful phone calls and preparing meals for others. Each year, she preserved Sherman's harvests, stocking the freezer with wild game and canning fruits and vegetables from their garden.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 4210 Penick Road. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m., with interment in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church.
