Nominations open for 2027 REB leadership awards

Nominations are open for the 2027 REB Awards for Distinguished Educational Leadership, which recognize outstanding principals in Henrico, Chesterfield and Hanover counties and Richmond.

Students, families, staff members and community members may nominate an eligible principal through 5 p.m. Nov. 5. Principals must have served at their school for at least three years and may not nominate themselves.

Each honoree will receive $20,000 for school initiatives and an unrestricted $10,000 cash grant. A runner-up also will be selected and may receive $10,000 for school projects.

Last year’s HCPS winner was Short Pump Middle School Principal Jessica Seal, whose award is helping expand the school’s Middle School Cornerstone student-leadership course. Short Pump Elementary School Principal Paige Smith was runner-up.
