Anabelle Krawitz of Henrico was named the recipient of the Jeremy T. Medina Prize at Hamilton College's annual Class & Charter Day May 12. This award is bestowed upon a first-year student or sophomore who has demonstrated outstanding academic excellence and has been accepted into the subsequent year's Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain Program.


Wofford College in South Carolina celebrated achievement and engagement at the college's annual Honors Convocation May 15 and among the award recipients was McCarver David Stokes of Henrico. Stokes was honored for scholastic achievement by the Art History department.


Virginia Credit Union recently awarded $5,000 college scholarships to 30 student members as part of VACU’s annual scholarship program. Established in 1991, the program has provided more than $1.95 million in scholarships to student members over the course of its history. The program honors Dorothy “Dot” Hall and Jane Watkins, former presidents of Virginia Credit Union, and was established to help members working toward their first undergraduate degree. Recipients from Henrico County include: Anisa Ali of Glen Allen High School (Virginia Commonwealth University, Radiology), Kelsey Morris of Mills E. Godwin High School (University of Virginia, Biology), Elsah Mukora of J.R. Tucker High School (University of Virginia, Economics), Teresa Vithoulkas of J.R. Tucker High School (University of Virginia, Biomedical Engineering), and Brandon Walker of J.R. Tucker High School (Temple University, Film and Media Art).


Zadok I. Miller of Glen Allen and Manal A. Alhamrani of Henrico graduated May 24 from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania. Miller earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in nurse anesthesia while Alhamrani earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in accounting.


The following local students were named to the spring 2026 dean’s list at Belmont University in Tennessee: Mia Salvi, of Glen Allen; and Georgiana Ascoli, Marshall Ryan and Hannah McCullar, of Henrico. To earn this honor, students taking at least 12 credit hours must earn a grade point average of 3.5 for the semester.


Addison Dodge of Glen Allen was named to the spring 2026 dean’s list at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania. To qualify for this honor, students taking at least 12 credit hours must earn a semester grade point average of 3.4 or higher.


The following local students were named to the spring 2026 dean’s list at Shenandoah University in Virginia: Brian Au, Clara Chenault, Caden Sherman and Braxton Snead, of Glen Allen; and Lucy Van Lenten, Lillian Berger, Emane Brinchfield and Isabella Dormus, of Henrico. To be eligible for this honor, full-time students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher.


John-Sebastrian Moore of Henrico was named to the spring 2026 chancellor’s list at the University of Minnesota Crookston. To be eligible for this honor, students taking at least 12 credit hours must earn a 4.0 grade point average for the semester. Moore is majoring in English.


Kevin Connelly of Henrico recently was inducted into the Maryland Pi chapter of the Chi Alpha Sigma national scholar-athlete honor society at McDaniel College. To qualify for induction, students must be a senior student-athlete and have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50. Chi Alpha Sigma is the first, and only, national scholar-athlete society to honor four-year collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition. Connelly is a Marketing major and was inducted for Men's Basketball.


Tracey Hargett of Glen Allen recently was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, a collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.
