At its June 11 meeting, the Henrico Planning Commission recommended approval of a proposal to relocate the Imago Dei Neighborhood School from the Westminister Presbyterian Church in Richmond to the Life Church RVA’s North Campus at the corner of Dill Road and Vawter Avenue in Henrico's Fairfield District.

There, the five-year-old Christian school will build a larger facility, capable of holding 230 students.

The proposal next is slated for final consideration from the Henrico Board of Supervisors at its July 28 meeting.

Several other proposals were deferred to future commission meetings:

• Brookland District – A proposal to demolish the Masonic Lodge on Bethlehem Road next to its intersection with Dickens Road and build a larger lodge hall was deferred to the commission's July 9 meeting.

• Varina District – A proposal to rezone 26 acres in Varina on Beckley Road, next to I-295 and the Chickahominy River and adjacent to three Civil War battlefields, also was deferred to the July 9 meeting. Some of the mystery surrounding this proposal has been eliminated, as the proposed use after rezoning is now indicated to be single-family homes.

• Varina District – A proposal to expand an outdoor storage and truck trailer parking facility on 6 acres at Darbytown and Miller roads was deferred to the July 9 meeting.

• Varina District – A request for a provisional use permit to bring “Occasions Too!,” an events space in the Newbridge Square Shopping Center on Nine Mile Road, into compliance with the zoning code was deferred.

• Tuckahoe District – A proposal to replace an 85-foot wooden telecommunications tower at Gaskins Road and Stoneridge Lane with a 155-foot metal tower was deferred to the Aug. 13 meeting.
