Breeze to launch nonstop service from RIC to Cancun

Starting Jan. 8, 2027, Richmond travelers seeking sun and fun can catch a quick, nonstop flight with Breeze Airways to Cancún, Mexico.

The RIC-to-CUN route will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays through the spring, airline and airport officials said in a surprising Cinco de Mayo statement announcing the new service. Click here to read more

Coal Pit Learning Center celebrates 50 years
Coal Pit Learning Center marked its 50th anniversary with a party and awards ceremony April 30 at the school on Francistown Road in Glen Allen. Students kicked off the celebration with a singing performance, and speakers included alumni of the school, current parents and grandparents, Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas

Woman shot in Eastern Henrico parking lot
A woman was shot in an Eastern Henrico parking lot Monday evening, according to Henrico Police. The shooting happened in the 2600 block of New Market Road in the Varina District around 6 p.m. The woman was taken to the hospital, and her injuries are considered non-life-threatening. Click here

Hanson, 38 Special added to Innsbrook concert series schedule
The Servpro After Hours Concerts series at Innsbrook Pavilion has added two new performances to its 2026 season, organizers announced May 4. Southern rock band 38 Special will take the stage Friday, June 26, as will pop-rock trio Hanson on Saturday, Aug. 8. Tickets for both shows will go on
