Henrico supervisors to hold July 28 public hearing about 2045 comprehensive plan
Henrico residents will have another opportunity to share their thoughts on the county’s draft 2045 HenricoNEXT Comprehensive Plan at the Board of Supervisors regular meeting on Tuesday, July 28.
The board will hold a public hearing to receive comments and will consider a resolution to adopt the draft plan as part of its agenda for Tuesday's meeting, which is set for 6 p.m. in the Board Room at the Henrico County Government Center, 4301 East Parham Road.
Community members can give comments in person at the meeting or virtually via Webex. Information about participating in the public hearing is available online.
The draft plan being considered by the board of supervisors incorporates staff revisions and comments received from more than two dozen community members by the Henrico Planning Commission at its meeting in June. Based on input from that meeting, the commission sought several modifications to the draft plan, including:
• revising and removing segments of six concept roads from the draft Major Thoroughfare Plan;
• changing the density of the Prime Agriculture/Rural Conservation land use category from one unit per 5 acres to a range of one-to-five units per 5 acres;
• directing staff to conduct further study for the A-2 zoning district as an implementation action of the plan.

The planning commission recommended approval of the draft plan to the board of supervisors.
Work on the 2045 HenricoNEXT Comprehensive Plan began in 2021 and has included public surveys, community meetings and other input from residents. Designed to guide the county’s vision for its future during the next 20 years, the document covers topics such as the environment, land use, public facilities and services, parks and cultural resources.
