The Henrico School Board is expected to hear a presentation about potential school boundary adjustment options during its Sept. 11 work session in the New Bridge Learning Center Auditorium, 5915 Nine Mile Road. The meeting will begin at 2:30 p.m.

At its Aug. 28 work session, the board directed Superintendent Amy Cashwell and staffers to outline potential scenarios for shifting some boundaries to address capacity issues at Freeman, Glen Allen, Highland Springs and Tucker high schools, as well as Moody Middle School, and to address “fractured feeder patterns” at Quioccasin Middle School (which takes students from seven different elementary schools and feeds into three different high schools).

The proposals could include shifting the attendance boundaries of certain schools or changing enrollment numbers at some specialty centers and school-specific programs, or a combination of both measures. They'll also take into consideration the impacts of new residential developments and 2022 bond referendum-funded school projects.

The board is not planning to select a final option or option at this week's meeting but is expected to set a timeline for doing so. That process will involve opportunities for public input, according to officials.

At its Thursday meeting, the board also will consider a consent agenda that includes approving a property line adjustment for Quioccasin Middle School and Pemberton Elementary School that is required in order to accommodate a new entry lane for the new version of Quioccasin, which is expected to be completed by the fall of 2027.
