1. Eligibility
The Henrico Citizen Beer-Naming Contest is open to individuals who are 21 years of age or older at the time of entry.
Employees of the Henrico Citizen/T3 Media, LLC and Intermission Beer Company, and members of their immediate households, are not eligible to win.
2. Contest period
The contest begins at 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 1, 2026 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 10, 2026.
Entries must be received before the deadline to be eligible.
3. How to enter
To enter, submit a proposed name for the Henrico Citizen beer through the official online entry form provided by the Henrico Citizen.
No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
Entrants must provide their name and email address and certify that they are at least 21 years of age.
There is no fee to enter.
4. Entry requirements
Submitted beer names should be original suggestions from the entrant.
Entries may not contain obscene, defamatory, discriminatory or otherwise inappropriate material.
Entries also may not knowingly infringe upon another person's or organization's trademark, copyright or other intellectual-property rights.
The Henrico Citizen/T3 Media, LLC and Intermission Beer Company reserve the right to reject any submission they determine is inappropriate, potentially infringing, unsuitable for use as a beer name or otherwise inconsistent with the purpose of the contest.
5. Selection of the winner
After the submission period closes, representatives of the Henrico Citizen and Intermission Beer Company will review eligible entries.
The winning submission will be selected based on factors including creativity, originality, relevance to the Henrico Citizen, Henrico County and/or the beer, and overall suitability for use as a beer name.
This is a skill-based naming contest. The winner will not be selected at random.
The judges' decision is final.
If the same or a substantially similar winning name is submitted by more than one eligible entrant, the entrant whose submission was received first will be considered the winner.
6. Prize
The winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card.
The Henrico Citizen will select the restaurant and provide the gift card to the winner.
No alcoholic beverage will be awarded as a prize.
7. Winner notification and verification
The potential winner will be contacted using the email address provided with the entry.
The potential winner may be required to provide reasonable verification that the entrant was at least 21 years old at the time of entry and otherwise met the eligibility requirements.
If the potential winner cannot be contacted within seven days, does not respond within that period, cannot establish eligibility or otherwise fails to comply with these rules, the Henrico Citizen/T3 Media, LLC and Intermission Beer Company may select another eligible entry.
8. Submitted names and permission to use winning entry
By entering, entrants give the Henrico Citizen/T3 Media, LLC and Intermission Beer Company permission to review, publish and publicize their submitted beer names in connection with the contest.
By accepting the prize, the winner grants the Henrico Citizen/T3 Media, LLC and Intermission Beer Company permission to use, reproduce, modify and promote the winning beer name in connection with the beer and related advertising, marketing, news coverage and promotional activities without additional compensation, subject to applicable law.
Submission of an entry does not guarantee that the proposed name will be used.
The Henrico Citizen/T3 Media, LLC and Intermission Beer Company reserve the right to modify a selected name or decline to use it if, for example, a trademark, legal, regulatory, production or other issue prevents or makes impractical its use.
9. Publicity
Except where prohibited by law, the winner agrees that the Henrico Citizen/T3 Media, LLC and Intermission Beer Company may announce and publish the winner's name and winning submission in connection with the contest and the resulting beer without additional compensation.
10. General conditions
The Henrico Citizen/T3 Media, LLC and Intermission Beer Company reserve the right to modify, suspend or cancel the contest if circumstances beyond their reasonable control prevent the contest from being conducted as intended.
They also reserve the right to disqualify entries or entrants that violate these rules or attempt to interfere with the proper operation of the contest.
The contest is subject to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.
