HCA Healthcare April 14 named Jennifer Bocker as division chief medical officer for its Capital Division, effective May 1. The division includes Virginia and New Hampshire and includes 18 hospitals with more than 4,100 licensed beds.

Last year, it cared for nearly 4 million patients.

Bocker, who joined the company in 2022 as chief medical officer of HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital, currently serves as associate chief medical officer for HCA Healthcare’s North Texas Division. She also previously served as a partner and executive board member of a large multispecialty surgical private practice in Colorado.

“I am honored to join the Capital Division and to serve alongside the physicians, nurses and colleagues who are dedicated to caring for patients every day,” said Bocker. “I look forward to building strong partnerships across the division and supporting our shared work to continue to advance quality, strengthen physician engagement, and foster the clinical, operational and cultural excellence required to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in the communities we serve.”

A board-certified general surgeon, Bocker is specialty trained in Level I trauma surgery and head and neck surgical oncology. She earned her medical degree from Northwestern University School of Medicine, completed her general surgery residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, and completed fellowship training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She also holds a master of business administration in healthcare administration from the University of Colorado.

“Dr. Bocker brings deep clinical expertise, strong physician leadership experience and a thoughtful, collaborative approach to this role,” said William Lunn, president of HCA Healthcare Capital Division. “Her perspective and leadership will help support our continued focus on high-quality, patient-centered care across the division.”
