The 11U Glen Allen Youth Athletic Association Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth League all-star baseball team advanced to the Southeast Regional tournament in Tennessee last month, where it defeated the eventual champion before falling in its other two games.

The team had finished third in the state tournament, which Glen Allen hosted in early July, before advancing to the regional in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.

In the state tournament, Glen Allen overwhelmed its first five opponents by a combined score of 56-7 en route to a perfect 5-0 start. It then lost a heartbreaker to Williamsburg, 3-2, in the semifinal round.

In the regional tournament, Glen Allen defeated Eagle Lake, Florida 4-2 in its opening game before concluding the tournament with two close losses (4-3 against Donelson, Tennessee and 3-1 against Peachtree (Crozet, Virginia). Glen Allen's win against Eagle Lake was that team's only loss in the tournament, which it won by defeating the host team.

Glen Allen was led at the plate during its tournament run by a variety of contributions from Easton V. (10 hits, 9 runs scored and 7 runs batted in), Sean H. (8 hits and 12 runs scored), CJ M. (8 hits, 5 runs scored and 9 RBIs), William R. (9 hits, 6 runs scored and 8 RBIs), Chase S. (9 hits, 8 runs scored and 7 RBIs), Collin B. (6 RBIs) and Sulley B. (11 hits and 5 RBIs).

On the mound, the team was paced by Sean H. (14.2 innings pitched, 17 strikeouts, 3 earned runs allowed), Collin B. (11.2 innings pitched, 20 strikeouts, 2 earned runs allowed), CJ M. (11 innings pitched, 17 strikeouts, 3 earned runs allowed) and William R. (5 innings pitched, 2 earned runs allowed, 8 strikeouts).

Other members of the team were Brayden W., Elliott G., James P., Ryan K. and Sammy S.

The team was managed by Ricky Bradley, who was assisted by Sean Mehlinger and Daniel Korb.
