A woman ran through a stop sign and crashed her car into the side of Rivers Edge Elementary School shortly before 10:40 p.m. June 26, causing structural damage to an exterior wall of the school and leaving tire tracks and vehicle parts on the school grounds.

The woman, whose age Henrico Police officials did not provide since she has not been charged in the incident, was traveling east on Twin Hickory Road, which ends at Holman Ridge Road in front of the school. But instead of stopping at the stop sign there, she apparently continued through it, crossing Holman Ridge and entering the school's bus loop before jumping the curb, driving through a grassy area and slamming into the building.

A police spokesperson told the Citizen that alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the incident and that there were no reported injuries.

Broken car parts remain at the site of the crash. (Lauren Modelski/Henrico Citizen)
