Paris Baguette, a bakery café concept with approximately 300 locations in North America, opened May 15 at 3524 Pump Road in the West End. Jeff Han, a longtime local entrepreneur with nearly 18 years of experience in wholesale distribution, led the development of the Henrico café. He and his wife, Hyunjung, decided to pursue their longtime dream of opening a bakery. Han partnered with a childhood friend to make that dream a reality and plans to open two more locations in the Richmond region. Hilex Poly Co. LLC, a manufacturer of plastic bags, is closing its eastern Henrico facility at 2800 Sprouse Drive, according to a Virginia WARN Act notice. The plant’s 118 employees will be laid off beginning July 13.
Henrico-based Wizard Wash, a power washing company, is establishing an office in Florida in early June, Richmond BizSense recently reported. Business in Florida is currently handled out of the company’s headquarters in Glen Allen, according to owner Omar Elshami. It will be the company’s first location outside Virginia. The Florida outpost will be co-owned by Wizard Wash COO Christian Hancock, who along with Elshami are graduates of Glen Allen High School. Wizard Wash was founded in 2024 and currently employs six people full-time.

Republic Services will hold a job fair on Wednesday, May 20 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Virginia Career Works—Henrico Center, 121 Cedar Fork Road. Company officials will discuss career and training opportunities in the field of environmental services. They will also discuss Republic’s company culture and expectations.
