BayPort Credit Union recently opened its first location in the Richmond region at 109 East Nine Mile Road in Highland Springs. It will occupy a bank building that was previously vacant near the area of Henrico Theatre and Highland Springs Little League. Founded in 1928 as Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. Employees’ Credit Union, the bank today serves more than 156,000 members and has $2.7 billion in assets. The institution plans to bring its philosophy of “people helping people” to Henrico by investing in the community with financial literacy education, youth programs, student scholarships and more. BayPort is helmed by President and CEO Jim Mears, and Tammy Trinkle has been tapped as Highland Springs branch manager.
Westhampton Pastry Shop will relocate soon from its longtime home on Patterson Avenue in Richmond to 8903 Three Chopt Road in Henrico, Richmond BizSense recently reported. The iconic, 74-year-old bakery was forced to find a new home so that its current space could be redeveloped into a four-story building with offices and retail space. The new location, at approximately 3,500 square feet, is larger than its current spot, which may allow new menu items and equipment, according to co-owner Mark Oley. No other changes are planned.
Digital infrastructure business services and manufacturing firm Hyper Solutions will invest $2 million to expand operations in Henrico County and create 56 new jobs in the region, company and government officials announced May 29. The company, founded in Virginia in 2022, uses a decentralized manufacturing process to provide customers around the globe with power distribution and integrated module solutions through a network of manufacturing partners. Roots Natural Kitchen, a fast-casual restaurant known for its customizable salads and rice and grain bowls, opened a new location in Henrico June 6, Axios Richmond recently reported. The new Innsbrook location at 4101 Dominion Boulevard joins existing spots on West Broad Street in Henrico, near VCU in Richmond and Winterfield Crossing in Chesterfield. The restaurant will be open daily for lunch and dinner.
Colliers Richmond recently announced the following commercial lease transactions in Henrico County: Hill & Schultz, PC – leased 610 SF at 1504 Santa Rosa Road (Gray Bryant represented the landlord and John Carpin represented the tenant); Branch Civil, Inc. – renewed its lease of 1,652 SF at 4417 Cox Road (Catherine Walker and John Carpin represented the landlord); and Martin, Dolan & Holton, Ltd. – expanded 1,408 SF at 4435 Waterfront Drive (Wood Thornton and Frank Hargrove represented the landlord).
