Intermission Beer Company has been named one of six finalists nationally for the Samuel Adams Brewing & Business Experienceship, the brewery recently announced on social media. Founders Courtney and Justin White will attend the “Crafting Dreams Beer Bash” in New York in June to compete to win a mentorship, which will include working side-by-side with the Boston Brewery, learning the craft and business of brewing, and collaborating on a specialty beer with Samuel Adams. Intermission, a 100% woman-owned business, has locations in Henrico (10089 Brook Road) and Hanover (10180 Lakeridge Parkway).


Wingstop is expanding its footprint in Henrico County with two new locations, Richmond BizSense recently reported. A store at 9853 Brook Road will open in late May while another in the Promenade Shops at 11645 West Broad Street will open in June, according to a company spokeswoman. The Short Pump space formerly housed the now-closed Umi Sushi Bistro.


Dollar General has opened a new Henrico location at 5258 Chamberlayne Road near the Richmond line. The store will employ 6 to 10 people. Click here to read more.

Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer recently announced the following commercial lease transactions in Henrico County: Stanley Martin Homes, LLC – leased 9,343 SF of office space at Marwaha Business Plaza, 9954 Mayland Drive (Steven J. Schaumberg of CRESA, along with Brian K. Berkey and Karla Knight of Thalhimer, represented the tenant); and Lindenmeyr Munroe – renewed its lease of 8,400 SF of industrial space at Dabney IV, 2161 Tomlynn Street (Evan Magrill represented the landlord).


The Henrico Economic Development Authority is seeking nominations for its 2026 Henrico Excellence in Action Awards, which will recognize county businesses and business leaders. Awards will recognize excellence in leadership, innovation, growth, and community impact across the following categories: Resilient Business Leader of the Year; Small Business Resilience Award; Economic Impact Award; Emerging Leader Award; and The Extra Mile Award. Nominees should embody resilience in action, including adaptation, innovation and leadership through change, while creating new opportunities and strengthening the community, according to the EDA. Virginia Career Works—Henrico Center will hold a Construction & Skilled Trades Career Fair on Wednesday, April 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet top employers, learn about job opportunities and apprenticeships, and connect with leaders who are shaping the future of skilled labor. Employers in fields such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, welding, carpentry and maintenance will have entry-level and experienced opportunities available.
