20-year-old Aylett man charged with second-degree murder in Henrico

A 20-year-old Aylett man is in jail, charged with second-degree murder in connection with the June shooting death of a Henrico man.

Henrico Police arrested Savontre Kester Garlick July 7; he also is charged with the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police now are classifying the death of 20-year-old Curtis Whitted Jr. of Henrico as a homicide. Whitted was found with an apparent gunshot wound at about 11:10 p.m. June 24 inside a vehicle that had crashed into a tree in the 300 block of Kingsridge Parkway in the Varina District. He was taken to a local hospital but later died.
