A woman was hit by a car and killed when she attempted to cross Patterson Avenue, not far from Gaskins Road, in the West End of Henrico, according to police.
The deceased was identified as Alexandria Current, 25, of Oklahoma.
Police said dark clothing, low lighting and not crossing at a crosswalk likely contributed to the crash.

UPDATE: SEPT. 3, 4:45 P.M. – Henrico Police officials safely located Shaqouya Mayaja Anderson Wednesday afternoon and have reunited her with her family, they said in a press release. Officials will continue to investigate the circumstances of her nearly three-day disappearance, but no charges have been filed, police said.
