The Weinstein Jewish Community Center will host “Celebrate the J!” – a family-friendly event designed to commemorate the completion of its $11.6-million “Building a Bright Future Together” capital campaign – Sunday, Oct. 19, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The event will spotlight the opening of newly renovated, state-of-the-art spaces designed to serve the community and will take place at the JCC, 5403 Monument Avenue.
“This celebration is about recognizing our past, embracing the present, and stepping confidently into the future — together,” said Brad Finkel, CEO of the Weinstein JCC. “We’ve always been more than a fitness center.”
The event will begin at 1 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting and short program featuring remarks by Finkel, Board President Stuart Simon, and Past Board President Richard November, who served from 1976 to 1978.
Following the program, guests will be able explore the revitalized campus through guided or self-led tours highlighting modernized preschool and afterschool areas, a state-of-the-art fitness center, upgraded indoor aquatic center, enhanced gymnasium, art gallery, auditorium, grab-and-go market, new lobby, and additional community meeting rooms.
From 1:15 to 3:30 p.m., the event will offer activities for all ages, including a bounce house, petting zoo, obstacle course, and preschool fun zone. Kids can enjoy craft stations, cooking and s’mores, jewelry making, and nature journal activities, while adults can stop by the Rummikub table or take part in a Zumba class from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The event will include free refreshments.
Additional attractions will include Red Cross safety info, camp previews, program information tables, a tzedakah giving station, a 50/50 raffle, and membership specials. Free childcare for children ages 4 and under will be available with a reservation by calling (804) 285-6500.
Community members can RSVP at weinsteinjcc.org but doing so is not required.
