Skies stay mostly dry through Friday, but a strong Arctic high pushes frigid air into the Mid-Atlantic setting the stage for snow.

Snow becomes likely by early Saturday as a developing low moves in from the southwest. Models show moderate to heavy snow across Central Virginia through the day causing hazardous travel.

Snow continues into early Sunday, possibly mixing with sleet or freezing rain in southern and eastern areas. Gradual tapering from west to east by afternoon. Temperatures stay near or below freezing, making road conditions icy.
