Henrico County's annual Earth Day celebration will take place at Deep Run Park on Saturday, April 11 from noon to 3 p.m. Learn about sustainability initiatives and resources available in Henrico, such as energy efficiency, residential solar, recycling, preserving green space, air quality, and more. Activities will include electric bike demos by Blue Ridge Cyclery, kids bike rides, kayaking, crafts, a fashion show by Moody Middle School, tree tours, and more. There also will be food trucks, vendors and live music. Admission is free. The event is hosted by hosted by Henrico Recreation and Parks, Keep Henrico Beautiful and H.E.A.R.T. Henrico Recreation and Parks will host Kite Day on Sunday, April 12 from noon to 3 p.m. at Dorey Park. Free kite kits will be given out to the first 300 people. In addition to kite flying, the Richmond Air Force Kite Club will present professional kite demonstrations and sell kites; Henrico Police will bring out the Drone Truck and other cool equipment; and Keep Henrico Beautiful will offer a wind-related craft. FETCH Fest, formerly Mutt Strutt, will take place Sunday, April 12 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery - West Creek. This dog- and family-friendly festival will feature live music, food and beverages, and interactive stations and contests for the whole family. It is a fun, educational event aimed at promoting the overall health and well-being of pets, while raising awareness and funds for FETCH a Cure's Companions in Crisis and Pixie's Pen Pals programs. RVA's Slate River Band will perform at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen's outdoor Center Field on Sunday, April 12 at 3 p.m. Originally founded in 1989 by Michelle and Nick Nixon, the current line-up features the Nixons supported by Randy Cook (pedal steel), Morgan Easter (keys), Steve Easter (bass), Eddie Shiflett (guitar/mando), and Craig Lokey (drums). They cover classic country hits from the 60s through today with an emphasis on the 90s. General admission seating is $25 per person. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Avenue, will host Spring Fest from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 12. The free event is open to the community and will include a show by Jonathan the Juggler, three large inflatables, a petting zoo, touch-a-truck featuring local public safety vehicles, hot dogs and more.
