The Henrico Theatre, 305 East Nine Mile Road in Highland Springs, will show two iconic holiday movies this weekend: A Christmas Story (1983, PG, 99 minutes) on Friday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. and Home Alone (1990, PG, 103 minutes) on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. Tickets and concessions are just $1, sold only at the door. Santa Paws will visit Short Pump Park on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A photographer will capture free photos of your dog with Santa Claus. Photos will be provided after the event. Macaroni Kid Richmond will lead a candy cane hunt. There also will be vendors selling items for pups and humans alike, as well as concessions from Early Bird Cafe for purchase. The annual Richmond Boat Parade of Lights will take place Saturday, Dec. 13 starting at sunset, approximately 5 p.m. A parade of boats decorated with colorful light displays will travel along the James River, from the downtown riverfront to Rockett's Landing. In Henrico, a good viewing spot is Osborne Park and Boat Landing, 9530 Osborne Turnpike. The Lakeside Christmas Market, a local collaborative market event presented by Twisted Carrot Farm, will take place Sunday, Dec. 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lakeside Farmers' Market, 6110 Lakeside Avenue. Local makers will be selling a variety of goods. Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, grab lunch from a food truck and enjoy music while you shop. The Richmond Makers Market returns to The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen on Sunday, Dec. 14 from noon to 5 p.m. Meet a curated selection of local artists and makers while shopping for unique handmade goods. There also will be more local goods for sale in CACGA's gift shop. The Center's four art galleries will be open with free admission as well. Click here for details.
