Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, located at 4491 Springfield Road in Glen Allen, will hold its annual Haiti Rummage Sale on Sept. 5 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sept. 6 from 8 a.m. to noon. All net proceeds will benefit the church's twin parish, St. Jean Baptiste, a school, clinic and church in Dos Palais, Haiti. The Richmond VA Comicon will take place Saturday, Sept. 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Complex. There will be a costume contest in addition to a variety of exhibitors and artists selling comics and toys. The McShin Foundation, 2300 Dumbarton Road, will hold its 21st annual Recovery Fest on Saturday, Sept. 6 from noon to 5 p.m. Recovery Fest is one of Virginia’s largest and longest-running celebrations of recovery, designed to bring together individuals, families and community partners to honor the power of healing and connection. This year’s event will feature 50+ vendors and exhibitors (nonprofits, treatment providers, recovery support services and local artisans), local bands, community-based speakers, family-friendly activities, food trucks and more. The 2nd Annual NES Tri-Cities Social Cornhole Championship will take place Sunday, Sept. 7 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Henrico Sports and Events Center. Featuring special guest Mike King from ESPN Richmond, the event will have a division for anyone: hard core (for those who play competitively, even if it's just in the backyard), novice (first-timers or casual players), teen (ages 13-19), youth (under age 13), seniors (age 65 and older) and parent/child. Attendees can expect on-site interviews with Mike King, vendors, giveaways and food/beverages all day. A portion of the proceeds will support ThisAbility, a nonprofit helping people of all abilities thrive. Door entry is $5 per player. Division entry fee is $10 per player, per division. Richmond’s quintessential oldies vocal harmony group, Bak N Da Day, will perform at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. Founded in 1999 by Russell Bennett, the group draws their material from a repertoire of nearly 100 songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s and encompassing musical genres like doo-wop, Motown, Philly soul, and even Broadway. The performance will take place on CACGA’s Center Field outdoor stage. Seating is general admission; bring a lawn chair or blanket. Tickets are $25.
