Henrico County's annual Independence Day celebration, Red, White & Lights, will take place July 4 at Crump Park from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Activities include live music, historical reenactments and musket fire, bounce houses and inflatables, face painting, balloon animals, a U.S. Air Force interactive exhibit, free watermelon, a food truck court, and more. The Richmond Symphony and a special guest band will perform and there will be a laser light show finale set to music. There are no fireworks. Admission is free. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will celebrate Independence Day by offering free admission to all guests from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The universally-accessible Klaus Family Tree House will be open for all to enjoy, as will the Waterway splash pad in the Children’s Garden. Visitors can explore the outdoor art exhibition, Homes & Habitats, with installations located throughout iconic areas of the Garden. There also are three new art exhibitions in the Kelly Education Center and Robins Visitor Center: Water and Stone by Nancy Kulik, Portraits of Place by Hillary Waters Fayle, and pop-up exhibit America the Beautiful by Anh-Van Truong. Pirate Dog Cards & Collectibles will host PokeBash 7 at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 2333 Hilliard Road, on Saturday, July 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to 100 tables of items for sale, there will be music by DJ Eddo Face, hourly door prizes and concessions. The West Broad Village summer concert series returns on select Saturdays May through July. The performances will take place on The Lawn from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The musical act on July 5 is Street Survivors, a Lynyrd Skynyrd Experience. Admission is free and open to the public. Comedian Antoine Scott, a Richmond native, will perform at the Richmond Funny Bone in Short Pump at 6:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. July 5 and at 6:30 p.m. July 6. Scott has opened for some of the best comedians in the industry, including D.L. Hughley, Monique, Kevin Hart, Earthquake, Tony Rock, Bill Bellamy and Tracy Morgan. He also makes funny YouTube videos.
