The Bon Secours Short Pump Emergency Center, 12320 West Broad Street, will host Public Safety Day 2025 on Saturday, May 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet local first responders and learn about staying safe and how to prepare your family for an emergency. Interact with fire engines, ladder trucks, ambulances, motorcycles, a wildlife boat and police cars. Other activities include a CPR demonstration, 911 simulator, a teddy bear clinic, face painting, local mascots, giveaways, and more. The Strawberry Street Cafe food truck will be on site as well. The Heritage India Festival - highlighting the culture, cuisine, commerce and entertainment of India - will take place at the Richmond Raceway Complex May 31 from noon to 9 p.m. and June 1 from noon to 7 p.m. The festival will feature a large South Asian bazaar with hundreds of vendors selling men's, women's and children's clothing, jewelry, artwork, home decor, and more. In addition, there will be cuisine from all over India including street foods like kabobs and papri/samosa chaat, South Indian curries, Gujarati Farsan, Maharashtran delicacies, Indian sweets, regional specialities and fusion food like chhole bhature and Hyderabadi biryani, and more. The inaugural Richmond Cards & Collectibles Expo, presented by Pirate Dog Cards & Collectibles, will take place at the Richmond Raceway Complex on Saturday, May 31 from from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The expo will feature over 200 tables of sports and TCG cards, comics, toys and other collectibles. There also will be local DJ Eddo Face, autograph guests, and a free meet-and-greet with Nutzy and Natasha from the Flying Squirrels. Tickets are $5; admission is free for kids 10 and under. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, in partnership with Diversity Richmond and TransJam, will host Blooming with Pride on Sunday, June 1 from noon to 4 p.m. This afternoon of creativity, connection and queer joy will feature a maker's market, music by DJ Andrew Saunders, drag performances, a house and disco performance by duo Museum District, and a photo booth (limited quantity, first-come first-served). In addition, Homes & Habitats artist Aleyah Grimes will be leading a paper crane activity and community partners He/She/Ze & We and Diversity Richmond will be available with resources. All activities are included with Garden admission, which is $10 to $20, or free for members. The event will be held rain or shine; cancellation could occur in the event in dangerous weather. Henrico Recreation and Parks will celebrate National Bounce House Day with Bounce House Bonanza 2025 on Sunday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Crump Park.
