Explore new ways of managing stress, being present and finding inner peace in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month at a Meditation and Mindfulness Workshop at Fairfield Library, 1401 North Laburnum Avenue, on Saturday, May 24 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. A certified facilitator from the Heartfulness Meditation Center will offer insights into the benefits of meditation and lead participants through a variety of guided exercises. A second session will be held the following Saturday, May 31; you can attend one or both sessions. Books on meditation will be available for checkout. Celebrate a fusion of flavors from two vibrant cultures at the 2025 Indian & Sri Lankan Food Festival, taking place Saturday, May 24 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at TPC Church, 10509 Greenwood Road in Glen Allen. Savor traditional Indian and Sri Lankan dishes such as biryani, dosa, samosa, kottu roti, mango lassi, hopper (appam), chicken 65 and more. There will be live music and a kid's play area as well. The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Road in the West End, will present "An Evening of Soul: A Tribute to Gladys Knight & Patti Labelle" on Saturday, May 24 at 8 p.m. Carla Jackson, a lawyer, ordained minister and scholar-activist, will perform songs by Knight. Jackson is the featured vocalist for The Underground Kitchen and The Analogue Republic and she completed a four-month tour of Italy in the musical “Sister Act 2.” Multi-talented vocalist Angelica Baylor, a Westmoreland County native who will portray Labelle, has toured with national recording artist Ginuwine and performed with D.C.-based corporate band Rhythm6. The Sandston Memorial Day Parade will take place Monday, May 26. The parade will start at 1 p.m. on Williamsburg Road where it intersects with Beulah Road. It will proceed west and disband at North Confederate Avenue. There will be a block party with live music, activities and exhibitor booths from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sandston Recreation Area on J.B. Finley Road. Admission is free.
