Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden's Spring Plant Sale will take place rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 2-3 outside in parking lot B. The Garden’s plant sales are among the largest in the region with more than 40 vendors selling plants and other garden-related items. Lewis Ginter volunteers will be on hand to answer gardening questions. All proceeds benefit the Garden’s mission. Admission to the sale is free; paid admission required to enter the Garden. The Henrico Theatre Company will present "Sylvia" May 2-3 at 7 p.m. and May 4 at 3 p.m. at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Greg and Kate have moved to Manhattan after 22 years of child-raising in the suburbs. Greg brings home a dog he found in the park, bearing only the name 'Sylvia' on her nametag. This street-smart mix of lab and poodle becomes a main bone of contention between husband and wife. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors 55+ and students. The Godwin High School Theatre Department will present "Matilda The Musical" May 2-3 at 7 p.m. and May 4 at 3 p.m. in the Mac Damron Theatre at the school, 2101 Pump Road. Based on the 1988 novel by Roald Dahl, the story follows a precocious young girl named Matilda Wormwood, who develops a love for reading despite a difficult home life and an overbearing headmistress. The Showmasters Richmond Gun Show will take place at the Richmond Raceway Complex from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 4. There will be 800 tables selling a diverse range of handguns, rifles, shotguns and antique pistols, as well as ammunition, holsters, safes, carbines, swords, knives, early Indian and Western Americana, militaria of all wars, coins, and more. Concealed carry classes will be offered too. Admission for adults is $11 cash or $12 via credit card. The Shady Grove Coffeehouse at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church, 11105 Cauthorne Road in Glen Allen, will present Robin and Linda Williams on Saturday, May 3 at 8 p.m. Full of harmonies and humor, the duo put on a show that is intimate, poignant and fun. Their blend of bluegrass, folk, old-time and acoustic country combines wryly observant lyrics with beautiful melodies played on guitar and banjo. Robin and Linda are closing in on a five-decade-long career that has included 24 personal recordings, thousands of concerts on three continents, a Robert Altman-directed movie, and hundreds of performances on NPR's "A Prairie Home Companion." Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door; teens 13-18 are admitted at half price, and children 12 and under are free. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Coffee, tea, and baked goods are available for purchase. The Shady Grove Coffeehouse, a folk music concert series, is now in its 23rd season.
