Wawa to debut new Sandston location Dec. 4 with giveaways

Wawa will open its 13th Henrico location Thursday, Dec. 4, with a morning full of giveaways, festivities and a friendly competition between local first responders.

The celebration at 2011 Orange Blossom Lane in Sandston (just across from the Chickahominy YMCA) will begin at 7:55 a.m., when General Manager Michelle Reynolds leads the official countdown before doors open for the first time at 8 a.m. The first 100 customers will receive free Wawa t-shirts while supplies last, and all customers can enjoy free any-size hot coffee through Sunday, Dec. 7.

At 8:30 a.m., community members are invited to a brief ceremony featuring remarks from Wawa leaders, followed by a ribbon-cutting that will include state and local officials.

Then, local police and firefighters will race to build hoagies to benefit local charities as part of the “Hoagies for Heroes” competition.

Wawa’s mascot, Wally Goose, will be present, and the store will give away t-shirts as well.
