Varina American Legion Post 233 seeking sponsors for Boys and Girls State programs

Varina American Legion Post 233 is seeking sponsors for its Virginia Boys and Girls State programs, which will take place June 21-27. The programs help empower young people through leadership development.

Three sponsorship levels are available:
• Dogwood sponsors – $100 to $499;
• Cardinal sponsors – $500 to $999;
• Commonwealth sponsors – $1,000 and above.

Donations help the post send local students to a week of hands-on leadership and government learning. Participants run a mock state government, including city and county elections. The week includes legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentation assemblies, and recreational programs.

Speakers and special events such as parades often are included as well.

Gifts of $25 to $50 help with program materials. Those of $100 to $250 cover clothing and some fees for a student. Gifts of $350 to $500 cover most needs for a student, and $600 covers the complete experience for a student.
