Toddler dies after falling through ice into Henrico pond

A toddler has died after falling through ice into a western Henrico pond Monday afternoon, according to police.

Henrico Police were called to the 12300 block of Shore View Drive, near Lauderdale and Church roads, around 1:40 p.m.

Once on scene, officers found the child unconscious after being rescued and receiving CPR from Henrico firefighters. Henrico Fire Station 13 is around the corner from the lake.

The boy was taken to the hospital, where he died Monday evening.
