Special Olympics Virginia's basketball championships return to Henrico Feb. 21-22

Special Olympics Virginia will welcome athletes, coaches and supporters back to the Henrico Sports & Events Center Feb. 21-22 for its 2026 Basketball Championships.

The event is now in its third year at the venue and will feature teams from throughout the state.

Competitions will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, with individual skills events, as well as half-court, full-court and Unified games. The event’s Opening Ceremony is Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. and will feature Richmond Urban Dance, speakers, an athlete co-emcee and the lighting of the Flame of Hope by local law enforcement officials.

Competition and award recognition will continue Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
