A presentation by the husband-and-wife team of Camden Whitehead and Mary Harding (Mimi) Sadler is among the highlights of The Shepherd Center of Richmond Open University's fall speaker series, which kicks off Sept. 22.
Retired architects Sadler and Whitehead will discuss Charles Gillette and his landscape master plans for several Virginia college and private school campuses in a presentation entitled, "Campus Landscapes Designed by Charles Gillette." The lunchtime presentation will be held Sept. 25 at Lakeside United Methodist Church (2333 Hilliard Road) from 12:30 to 1:30, and is open to TSCOR members.

The Gillette presentation will be repeated Oct. 8 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (9505 Gayton Road) as part of the Lunch & Life series. Wednesday Lunch & Life events are free and open to the public; no registration or Shepherd's Center membership is required. (Attendees should enter the church from the lower side parking lot.)
Lunch is held from noon to 12:30 p.m., and speakers are from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Beverages and desserts are provided by the church; guests should bring a sandwich.
In addition to Wednesday and Thursday speaker events at Lakeside UMC and St. Mary's Church, TSCOR also hosts Monday lunchtime speakers, open to members, at St. Luke’s Church on Chippenham Parkway.
A volunteer-driven nonprofit that supports active, independent, and engaged older adults through lifelong learning and community service, TSCOR also offers eight-week courses on a variety of topics during fall, winter and spring.
