Salvation Army celebrates partners at The Dominion Club
The Salvation Army Central Virginia honored its 2026 Leaders Doing The Most Good at its annual awards luncheon April 29, hosted by The Dominion Club in Glen Allen.
Emceed by Channel 12 anchor and investigative reporter Jasmine Turner, the ceremony also featured a performance by The National Capital Band and a keynote speech by Richmond Mayor Danny Avula.
Daily Planet Health Services, the region’s leading provider of healthcare for individuals experiencing homelessness, was recognized with the Shield Award for Nonprofit Excellence. The Daily Planet works hand-in-hand with The Salvation Army to reduce barriers to care through programs such as Mobile Outreach, and also provides Rapid Re-Housing assistance and weekly onsite medical and behavioral health services at the Inclement Weather Shelter.

Dick Guthrie, who was honored with the award for Individual Excellence, has been a longtime supporter of The Salvation Army mission as a mentor for youth, a champion for families and individuals experiencing homelessness, and a member of the organization's Advisory Council and Advisory Board.
Co-Owners Harry and Sara Ragsdale accepted the award for Marco's Pizza RVA, which was recognized for Corporate Excellence. Marco's and the Ragsdales have served the community through support of such programs as the Christmas Assistance Angel Tree program and Christmas in July. Last year, Marco’s expanded its partnership to support Run for Hope and other community initiatives serving families in the Central Virginia region.
