The Richmond Veterans Affairs Medical Center will host an outreach event on Wednesday, Jan. 21 to help connect unsheltered veterans experiencing homelessness with key services and housing support.
The “Home for the Holidays: Homeless Surge” event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room at the Richmond VA Medical Center, 1201 Broad Rock Boulevard, Richmond 23249.
The event is focused on serving veterans in the Richmond area who are living on the streets or in places not meant for habitation and who are in urgent need of assistance. VA staff and partners will be on site to conduct assessments, determine eligibility, and connect veterans to health care, benefits, and community resources.
During the event, unsheltered veterans will have access to:
• assessments to identify immediate needs and support options.;
• eligibility and enrollment assistance for VA health care and services.;
• connection to housing, benefits, and other community resources.
The effort is designed to remove barriers and streamline access to care, housing, and support for those at highest risk.
The event prioritizes veterans who are experiencing street homelessness and require urgent support and housing assistance. Veterans are encouraged to bring the following, if available: DD214, identification (ID), Social Security card, and proof of income.
