Richmond International Airport has partnered with LanguageLine Solutions to initiate the availability of interpretation services for passengers, airport officials announced recently.
LanguageLine is a language service that provides instant access to professional interpreters in more than 240 languages. The support helps passengers who speak limited English or are deaf and hard of hearing.
“When we say we seek to offer an exceptional travel experience for all customers, we mean all customers,” said president and CEO of the Capital Region Airport Commission President and CEO Perry J. Miller. “We estimate that nearly 10 percent of our customers are taking the domestic portion of an international journey, so the potential need is significant.”
RIC will locate phones in ticketing, lower-level arrival areas and both concourses with LanguageLine access to support passengers. Any mobile device can also be used to access the service.
“Everything we do begins with why we do it. We exist to ensure that every person, regardless of the language they speak, feels seen, heard, and understood,” said president and CEO of LanguageLine Solutions. “We are incredibly proud to stand alongside Richmond International Airport to create a more inclusive and welcoming experience for all travelers.”
