Reynolds Community College and the Virginia Public Access Project are partnering to host a forum designed to encourage civic engagement and help Virginians better understand politics and government at the state and local levels, in advance of this year's elections.
The two organizations will co-host Before Virginia Votes on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. in the Lipman Auditorium of the Massey Library Technology Center at Reynolds' Henrico campus, 1651 East Parham Road. The free public event will feature a panel discussion about the importance of civic participation, particularly with this fall’s elections approaching.
Panelists will include Reynolds President Paula Pando and Virginia Commonwealth University political science professor Jatia Wrighten. VPAP Executive Director Chris Piper will moderate the discussion.
In addition to the panel, attendees will hear a presentation about how to use VPAP’s resources to become more informed and engaged citizens. VPAP, a nonpartisan nonprofit, provides tools and data that allow Virginians to track campaign finance, follow legislation, and better understand the workings of state and local government.
The program aims to highlight why civic engagement matters and to provide practical resources for those who want to be active participants in shaping Virginia’s future.
The Lipman Auditorium is located inside Reynolds’ Massey Library Technology Center.
