IHOP, 9820 West Broad Street – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: temperature of shredded cheese in top of prep cooler at waiter area is elevated.
Burgerworks, 10321 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: raw beef patties are stored over shell eggs and whipped cream in walk-in cooler; raw beef patties are stored over shell eggs in grill drawers; observed heavy yellow buildup in ice machine; temperature of milk in prep cooler at front counter is elevated; employees are wearing bracelets and a watch while cooking and assembling burgers; y-connector on mop sink doesn’t have the proper backflow prevention device installed.
Chipotle Mexican Grill, 10501 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperatures of white and brown rice on serve line are too low; green cutting boards are heavily scratched; dumpster is overflowing with trash bags.
8824 Tavern, 800 Virginia Center Parkway – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility couldn’t provide employee health policy; pink and black residue found inside ice machine; sanitizer solution concentration in wiping cloth bucket is too high.
Vampire Penguin Shaved Snow & Desserts, 411 North Ridge Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed buildup of what appears to be pink mildew on ice guard of ice machine; cutting board at prep station is heavily scratched; floor under ice machine and surrounding areas are unfinished (no longer smooth and easily cleanable); there are several chipped tiles.

Ginger Juice, 7021 Three Chopt Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: bin lid and whisk found in hand sink; observed what appears to be brown mildew buildup on cooling unit and lines in ice machine; two plastic spatulas are damaged; there is a leak from three-compartment sink faucet in back of kitchen; there are direct plumbing connections at both three-compartment sinks; paint on floor in back of kitchen is wearing down in places (tiles beneath are exposed).
Hawk’s Fish & BBQ, 2903 Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: there wasn’t a designated person in charge when inspector arrived; observed heavy buildup of breading on sides of breading containers and clumps in breading; temperatures of BBQ and ribs in hot holding units are too low; bacterial spray and an inhaler found above breading prep table; observed large flies in front service area; boxes of fish are stored directly on floor in walk-in; boxes of food are stored directly on floor of freezer; single-service containers are not stored inverted; observed heavy grease buildup on cooking equipment; there is buildup on gaskets, outside of units, and on racks and interiors of reach-ins; observed grease on walls and hood filters; floor is dirty; mops are not hung or inverted to air dry.

Chopt Creative Salad Company, 11301 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: there is 0 ppm of sanitizer being dispensed from the dishwasher; temperatures of brown and white rice on front and back burners are too low; long cutting boards in back prep area are scored; there are rust spots on drying racks next to dishwasher; y-valve attached to mop sink faucet doesn’t have the appropriate backflow prevention device installed.
Einstein Brothers Bagels, 1368 Gaskins Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: raw shell eggs are stored above pitchers of tea in cooler in front kitchen; there is dried food debris on two scoops and one pizza slicer on clean dish storage shelf; walk-in cooler racks and fan guards are dirty; ceiling vents in back kitchen are dusty.
RVA Pizza, 9742 Gayton Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility couldn’t provide employee health policy or written procedures for cleaning up vomit and diarrhea; microwave and walk-in shelving racks are dirty; hand soap and hand sanitizer are stored over food in dry storage area; gaskets are torn in prep cooler and a large amount of water is standing in the bottom; ceiling lights are flickering.
Subway, 9105 Quioccasin Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: underside of deli slicer carriage tray is dirty with dried food debris; temperature of meatballs in sauce in hot well is too low; both cutting boards at make tables are heavily scratched and stained.
Chipotle Mexican Grill, 8675 Quioccasin Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: two light bulbs in fume hood are burned out; walk-in cooler fan grates are dusty.
Roma Ristorante Italiano, 8330 Staples Mill Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge couldn’t provide verification that employees have been trained in regards to foodborne illnesses; there is dried food residue on knife stored clean; salad refrigerator doesn’t have an ambient air thermometer; bulk containers of salt, sugar, oil and water are unlabeled; wet wiping cloth is stored in a container of water with no sanitizer; to-go containers on prep shelf are stored uninverted; walk-in freezer door is in disrepair causing excessive ice buildup; walk-in cooler handle is missing; fryer baskets are bent; facility doesn’t have chlorine test strips; two lights are out above hood.
Chick-fil-A, 4443 South Laburnum Avenue – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: back hand sink doesn’t have paper towels.
