Empanadas Market, 1110 Westbriar Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: sliced deli ham is past its expiration date; prepared foods in the walk-in cooler are date marked for eight days instead of seven; two spray bottles of sanitizer are unlabeled; small chest freezer near oven is in disrepair and there is heavy ice buildup inside; single cutting boards are heavily scratched.

Wendy’s, 11274 Patterson Avenue – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

Tip Thai, 8131 Staples Mill Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: container of raw chicken is stored above raw shrimp in prep unit; container of sticky rice in walk-in isn’t date marked.

Henrico High School, 302 Azalea Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: an employee is wearing a watch; rubber spatulas in kitchen are broken and chipped; facility doesn’t have sanitizer test strips; observed mold on wire storage racks in walk-in cooler; there is dust on wire storage racks throughout the kitchen; observed dust on ceiling vents and nearby ceiling tiles.

Highland Springs Elementary School, 600 Pleasant Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: dried food debris found on can opener blade; an employee is wearing a Fitbit; walk-in cooler door gaskets are moldy and stained black; there is a direct plumbing connection underneath prep sink and three-compartment sink; observed dried food stains on kitchen ceiling.

Quioccasin Middle School, 9400 Quioccasin Road – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

Pemberton Elementary School, 1400 Pemberton Road – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

Sandston Elementary School, 7 Naglee Avenue – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

Sistar Seafood, 4844 South Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility doesn’t have a certified food protection manager; medicines and other personal care items are stored throughout the kitchen; observed roach-like bugs in kitchen and on traps; there is buildup on racks, floors and walls and inside of equipment; dry storage area is dirty and disorganized.


SEPT. 15

Starbucks Coffee Company, 8631 Quioccasin Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperature of canister of whipped cream sitting out on counter is elevated; single-service cups are stored above protection line on rolling cart; several refrigeration units have torn gaskets (both lowboys in drive-thru area, back left lowboy, two-door reach-in freezer and one-door reach-in freezer); observed brown splash on ceiling above three-compartment sink; there are wall tiles with pits in them throughout the front line.

Skipwith Elementary School, 2401 Skipwith Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: two cans of mandarin oranges are dented along edge seams; there is a direct plumbing connection at both two-compartment sinks; observed low grout around floor drain in dish room.

Highland Springs High School, 200 South Airport Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: self-closing faucet in staff restroom only provides water flow for 10 seconds instead of a minimum of 15 seconds; dish machine isn’t reaching the required temperature; reach-in cooler and milk cooler (not in use) door gaskets are moldy and stained black; floor drains under three-compartment sink and prep sink are dirty.

Taco Bell, 4388 South Laburnum Avenue – No violations reported during a routine inspection.


SEPT. 16

Dunkin’ Donuts, 3443 Cox Road – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

Dragon Treats Dessert Café, 1420 North Parham Road – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: observed brown residue on back splash of ice machine.

Ridge Elementary School, 8910 Three Chopt Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed light brown and pink buildup on ice guard of ice machine; bin of marinara in two-door reach-in cooler is past its expiration date; tube of medicinal skin cream is stored on top of microwave between deli slicer and stand mixer; two plastic spatulas are chipped with fraying edges; there is dust accumulation on ceiling and sprinkler head in walk-in cooler; baseboards are peeling away from the wall behind brooms by mop sink and on outside corner by three-compartment sink; paint chunks (into wall) are missing throughout kitchen and serving area; filter above dish machine is dusty.


SEPT. 17

Taqueria Y Restaurant El Chido, 1412-C Starling Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge couldn’t provide employee health policy or written procedures for cleaning up vomit and diarrhea; there is no hot water at the kitchen hand sink; four tomatoes in walk-in cooler are moldy; observed yellow buildup in soda gun at bar; temperatures of several foods in refrigeration units are elevated (unsalted butter in prep cooler, tres leches cake in lowboy cooler, whip cream in bar cooler and milk in walk-in cooler); bottle of cleaner in bar is unlabeled; ice scoop handle is touching ice at bar; a plastic to-go bag is in direct contact with rice in warmer; hood is greasy.

Tucker High School, 2910 North Parham Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: several cans on supply rack are dented (two cans of green beans, one can of garbanzo beans, one can of apples and one can of mandarin oranges); salads made yesterday in walk-in cooler are not date marked; green cutting board is heavily scratched.

Carver Elementary School, 1801 Lauderdale Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: kitchen doesn’t have a three-compartment sink (there are two, two-compartment sinks installed); there are direct plumbing connections under both two-compartment sinks.
