JULY 1

Sicilian Bakery, 9052 West Broad Street – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: dumpster side covers were left open.

Fairfield Inn & Suites Richmond Airport, 5252 Airport Square Lane – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: uncovered staff beverage found in kitchen; kitchen hand sink doesn’t have paper towels; temperature of oat milk on self-service line is elevated because the ice pack used for cooling has melted; cutting boards are heavily scored; observed black stains and mold on reach-in cooler door gaskets; there are dried food stains and food residue on storage shelves in cabinets on self-service line; there is a direct plumbing connection under three-compartment sink.

Quality Inn Richmond Airport, 5240 Airport Square Lane – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: dried food debris found inside microwave; cans of pesticide are stored in the kitchen; facility doesn’t have sanitizer on site; homestyle refrigerator door gaskets are dirty; juice machine door gaskets are moldy; there are dried food/beverage stains on cabinet doors; there is a direct plumbing connection under three-compartment sink.


JULY 2

IHOP, 10151 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge couldn’t provide proof that employees have received training on illness reporting requirements or written procedures for cleaning up vomit and diarrhea; employee cracked raw eggs and proceded to prepare food and touch plates without removing soiled gloves and washing hands; microwaves are soiled with food splatter; dried food residue found on dicer; temperature of a pan of cooked sausage is too low; temperatures of ham and liquid eggs in unit on cook line are elevated because the unit had been accidentally turned off; cut tomatoes are not date marked; temperature of waffle batter in walk-in is elevated because of improper cooling methods (stored in a covered deep container); avocados, a toaster and an open box of gloves are stored in prep area under vent with dripping condensation; employee on cook line is wearing a watch and a server is wearing bracelets; containers on shelf in dish area are stacked while still wet; disposable aluminum pans are stored unwrapped and uninverted on cook line; clear plastic containers are stored uninverted; a reach-in refrigerator on cook line is turned off/not in use and should be removed from the kitchen; cutting board at make table is heavily scored; two knives on magnetic strip have chipped tips; there is grease buildup on non-food contact surfaces of the waffle iron; observed food debris and/or black residue on gaskets of some refrigerator units; y-connector attached to mop sink faucet doesn’t have the proper backflow prevention device installed; lid of recycling dumpster and door of garbage dumpster were left open; recycling dumpster is not rodent-proof as there are openings on the sides; coving tile by mop sink is chipped; HVAC system is not in good condition (observed condensate dripping from system onto floor in dining room); condensate is also dripping from the ceiling and vents on the cook line; ceiling tiles in dining room are missing, moldy or water damaged; floor drains in kitchen are soiled; caulking near dish machine is moldy; red liquid is spilled on floor in walk-in refrigerator.

Little Caesars, 6040 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: did not observe a food protection manager certificate; back hand sink doesn’t have paper towels; temperatures of ham, sausage and cheese in refrigeration unit are elevated because the unit was turned off; time isn’t being tracked for items kept on time not temperature; multiple clear containers are broken; observed buildup on racks and food debris in container and pizza oven; there is missing coving along walls; walls and floors are dirty, especially in dish area.


JULY 3

Marco’s Pizza, 7000 Forest Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: single-service lids are not stored in a way to protect them from contamination; cutting board at make table is heavily scratched and stained; several items are dusty (shelf above make table, floor fan and can opener base).

Burger King, 1013 Parham Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge couldn’t provide proof that employees have been trained on illness reporting requirements; open employee drink found at drive-thru; employee entered the restaurant from outside and resumed fulfilling food orders without washing hands first; employees’ bare hands are in contact with fries when preparing orders and placing fries in bags; observed food residue on slicer in storage; black residue found inside ice machine; temperature of fries in hot holding unit is too low; temperature of pans of sliced tomatoes in walk-in are elevated because of improper cooling methods (stored in covered containers); observed several large flies in the kitchen; employees handling food are wearing bracelets; employee working with food isn’t wearing a hair restraint; an in-use knife is stored in a crevice between equipment; single-service fry containers are stacked too high in the holder and are therefore not protected from contamination; handle is broken off of chest freezer; fryer baskets are damaged; curtain inside bun toaster is torn; y-connector attached at mop sink faucet doesn’t have the proper backflow prevention device installed; there is a direct plumbing connection under the three-compartment sink; cardboard found on the ground under and behind one of the dumpsters; observed grease buildup on outside of the grease receptacle; observed grease and food debris on the ground under and around fryers; there is dust on ceiling and monitors; there is grease buildup on ceiling tile near burger broiler; several ceiling tiles in this area are stained brown; cement floor in the back is pitted and cracked; grease is dripping from the hood system over fryers.


JULY 4

Hawk’s Fish & BBQ, 2903 Williamsburg Road – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: observed cooked BBQ in cambro at an improper temperature.


JULY 7

Art Corner, 1123 Gaskins Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperatures of milk and oat milk in reach-in cooler are elevated; air temperature of this unit is elevated.


JULY 8

Pho Tay Do, 6328 Rigsby Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: there is no certified food protection manager on staff; an employee used the hand sink to fill up pitcher for customer drinking water; temperature of chicken broth prepared last night in homestyle fridge is elevated; foods in cooler units throughout the kitchen are stored in non-food grade grocery bags; fryer baskets are severely damaged with many wires broken and bent; fryer, hoses behind cook line and grease hood are dirty; box fan above homestyle fridge is dusty; there is a direct plumbing connection at prep sink and three-compartment sink.

Torchy’s Tacos, 11120 West Broad Street – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

Starbucks inside Publix, 2250 John Rolfe Parkway – No violations reported during a routine inspection.
