Regional cooling center in Richmond remains open during heatwave
The Salvation Army Central Virginia’s cooling center in Richmond, operated in partnership with the City of Richmond and Henrico County, remains May 19 and 20 to provide relief from the spring heatwave for those who need it.
Community members in need of a safe, air-conditioned space are welcome to visit the center at 1900 Chamberlayne Avenue in Richmond. The center provides hydration, snacks, television and relief from the heat for adults ages 18 and older, between the hours of 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The entrance to the center is in the side alley.
Families with children are encouraged to seek relief from the heat at family-appropriate public spaces, such as local libraries, community centers, or pools when available.
