Award-winning picture book authors Hanh Bui and Chiêu Anh Urban will visit the Tuckahoe Library Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to noon to read and discuss their books and Vietnamese culture. The event is free and open to the public (all ages).

Following their talk, crafts and activities for children will be available from noon to 2 p.m.

Bui’s colorful and joyous picture books The Yellow Áo Dài and Ánh's New Word look at the refugee experience through the eyes of a child. The books are influenced by her own life coming to the United States from Vietnam when she was eight years old. Urban, an award-winning author/illustrator, also was forced to flee Vietnam with her family in 1975.

The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and is one of many programs connected with the Summer Reading Challenge. This program also is a continuation into June of the library’s recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Tuckahoe Library is located at 1901 Starling Drive, Henrico.
