Stephanie Hubbard Proffitt was born December 31, 1969 in Richmond, VA. She grew up in Henrico, VA in the house she was born in until 1971, then moved to a house in Canterbury. She graduated from Godwin High School in 1988. Stephanie got married in 1990. On July 19, 1991 she and her daddy were assaulted at his used car lot. She was 6 months pregnant at the time. Her son, Trey Cotner, was born September 26, 1991. She stayed in hospital until December 12, 1991. She and her son lived with her daddy and mama. On December 31, 1991, her 21st birthday was celebrated. She and her little boy lived with her daddy and mama until she remarried in 1998. She married the love of her life, Kenny Proffitt and in 2001 they had a son, Duncan Proffitt.

Stephanie was never bitter about her disability as a result of having been assaulted. She was determined to be all she could be. Doing things that she was used to doing made her try harder to defeat hard tasks. She overcame most of the challenges that life threw at her.

She was always willing to do what she could to help everyone else and she was always kind and smiling. Kenny could always depend on her to be there for him. She loved him beyond measure. She would give someone else something even if she didn’t have something for herself. There was no way you could be disgruntled when you were in her presence. If you told her something it never was told to anyone else.

Her favorite work place was a daycare center. She loved working with children. She worked in daycare up until she left this world.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her daddy, Walter Winston Hubbard. She is survived by her husband, Kenny Proffitt; two sons, Trey Cotner and Duncan Proffitt; two granddaughters, Mia Cotner and Arabella Wandrick-Cotner; her mother, Naomi Hubbard; two sisters, Claudia Duck (Eddie), Mary Ella Grass (Dennis); several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, many friends, and colleagues.
