It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sonia Zinder, aged 99, of Henrico, Virginia, who left this world peacefully on November 22, 2025. Sonia, born on June 9, 1926, was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose life was marked by unwavering love for her family and a deep commitment to her community.

Sonia was predeceased by her devoted husband, Victor Zinder; her parents, Rose and Julius Zalesky; and her cherished sister, Mildred Zalesky. She is survived by her loving children, Mitchell Zinder (Ellen), Ellen Zinder, Martin Zinder (Lynn), and David Zinder; as well as her dear grandchildren, Allison Zinder (David Nicolas Schafer), Katherine Zinder (Bobby Miller), Jessica Lynn (Brian), and Melissa Moss (David). Sonia also held a special place in her heart for her great-grandchildren, Charlotte Lynn, Henry Lynn, Nina Schafer, Leopold Schafer, and Ariella Moss. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by many cousins, relatives, and friends who were touched by her kindness and spirit.

A long-time member of Temple Beth El, Sonia served with distinction as Sisterhood President and was an active Bingo Volunteer, contributing her time and energy to support her community. A proud lifetime member of Hadassah, Sonia's contributions were recognized with the Sophie Stahl Memorial Award, a testament to her dedication and impact on those around her.

The Zinder family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cedarfield and her private duty caretakers, Evelyn Linares, Ana Valencia, and Wanda Smith, for their compassionate care in her later years.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at Richmond Beth El Cemetery at Forest Lawn, located at 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, Virginia.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a time of remembrance and fellowship at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 28 at Cedarfield, 2300 Cedarfield Parkway.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Temple Beth El, 3330 Grove Avenue, Richmond, VA 23221, to honor Sonia's legacy of faith and community service.

Sonia Zinder will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit and the love she shared will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
