Obituary - Shirley Dearing Woodle

Shirley Dearing Woodle, 89, of Henrico, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband; Bob, her parents; Clarence and Edith Dearing, and her brothers; Forest and Buddy Dearing. She is survived by her children; Gregory (Laura), Stephen (Deborah), and Paula Cox (Kevin), six grandchildren; Gregory Woodle (Victoria), Bradley Woodle, Ryan Woodle, Hunter Cox (Abby), Logan Woodle, and Brooke Cox, and two great grandchildren; River and Auden Woodle.
Shirley was born in Elkton, Virginia and after attending James Madison College moved to Richmond to pursue a career at A.H. Robbins in Pharmaceutical Labeling. Once retired, she was very dedicated in her church serving on various committees. She was a member of Ikebana where she learned to create many different styles of flower arrangements. Most of all, she was very passionate in making quilts with all the quilting ladies in her “scrappy” group.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Saint Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 9801 Fort King Road, Henrico VA with a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 also at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Saint Andrew’s United Methodist Church or your favorite charity.
