Obituary - Sandra Duncan White

Sandra Duncan White, a successful former seafood business owner and child care provider, died Oct. 23 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was 78.
Sandra was a caring mother and loyal family member who delighted her loved ones with finely prepared seafood dinners.
She was born in Glasgow, Scotland and graduated from Kingsridge Secondary School, where she excelled in art. Sandra moved to Richmond in 1965 to live with the family of her aunt, Violet Ritchie.
She later married and moved to New York City before returning in the 1980s to start Fan Seafood in Richmond's Fan District. She later operated Tuckahoe Seafood in Richmond's West End in Henrico County.
After 2000, Sandra worked mainly as a child daycare provider.
She is survived by a daughter, Rachel Duncan of Richmond; and two brothers, Stephen Duncan of Dymchurch on Romney Marsh in Kent, England and Stuart Duncan of Dunning, Scotland.
She was preceded in death by parents Earl and Rachel Duncan of Dunbar, Scotland.
Woody Funeral Home-Parham in Richmond is handling arrangements. Her ashes will be spread during a private family gathering in Buckingham County, Virginia.
