Ronald Wayne Beech, 86, of Henrico, Va., formerly of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away peacefully June 19 at his home surrounded by his family. Ron was born in Chatom, Ala., to John Henry and Ila Pauline Howell Beech. Though his upbringing was humble, his childhood was rich with adventures alongside his three brothers.
Ron graduated from Waverly High School in 1957. He attended Ohio University, finishing in the first graduating class of chemical engineering. Ron retired from Ashland Chemical Co., Dublin, Ohio, having earned a patent that paid for his salary, an achievement he found rewarding.
Ron was unassuming and kind, easygoing, and devoted to his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, once catching a 19.8 lb. largemouth bass in Ga., with dear friend Fern Pickenpaugh of Caldwell, Ohio. He treasured the camaraderie of hunting and fishing trips with his buddies from Zanesville, especially Jeff Rose. Mysteriously, the deer were always elusive. Ron loved his three dogs and always carried a few treats in his pocket.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Aldridge Beech; sons, Michael (Tammy) Beech of Sacramento, Calif., David (Sheryl) Beech of Carbondale, Ill.; daughter, Sally Kronk of Westerville, Ohio; stepson, David (Holly) Aldridge of Richmond, Va.; stepdaughter, Katie (David) Hogg of Lakeworth, Fla.; grandsons, Clark (Grace) Beech and Patrick (My-Hai) Beech; granddaughters, Sarah (Aleksey) Shpil and Tucker Beech; step grandsons, Hagan, Kyle, and Shane Aldridge and Jarryd Rochford; step granddaughters, Sarah Rochford and Jenah Manzano; devoted nephew, John R. Beech, four great-grandchildren, and other relatives and loved ones.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Dorothy Jean Dietz Beech and Edna Mae Miller Beech; brothers, John Nolan Beech, Scott J. Beech, and Paul G. Beech; and stepson, Michael W. Aldridge.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Sunrise Villa Tuckahoe and Suncrest Hospice, especially Jennifer and Shelby, for their wonderful care of Ron.
A graveside service will be held in Hobson, Washington County, Ala., later this year.
