Robert Ray "Spike" Seay, Sr., aged 83, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Born on October 12, 1942, Spike was a beloved, lifelong resident of Varina.

Spike was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Josephine Seay; his siblings, Earnest Seay and James L. Seay; his son, Steven R. Seay; his granddaughter, Morgan E. Munn; and his loving wife of 58 years, Alice T. “Bonnie” Seay.

He is survived by his sister, Joan Bell; his children, Robbie Seay (Wendy), James “Butch” Seay, Darlene Seay-Carpenter, and Jodie Munn (Chris); his grandchildren, James Seay Jr., Allison Gromovsky (Brandon), Taylor Parsons (Nick), and Austin Seay; and his great-grandchildren, Luke and Joseph Seay, Declan, Finan, and Cyrus Parsons, Alice and Reid Gromovsky.

Spike was the founder of Seay’s Termite and Pest Control Inc. and Robert Seay Builders. He was a member of Pioneer Baptist Church and was affectionately known by many as PaPa, Spike, or the Darbytown Bug Man. Spike had a passion for restoring antique cars and attending car shows. He also dedicated many years to coaching the Varina Youth Football program, sharing his love for the game. Known for his character, Spike loved to joke and laugh, bringing joy and love to those around him.

Born and raised in Varina, Spike was a staple in the community and will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Virginia, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the same location on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Washington Memorial Park.
