Ralph Edward Lewis, Sr., 71, of Henrico, gained his heavenly wings on October 7, 2025. He was born on March 15, 1954 to George and Loretha Lewis in Glen Allen, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Nancy, Carolyn and Jean.
Ralph was educated in Henrico County Public Schools and attended Virginia Randolph High School before graduating from Hermitage High School, where he earned a masonry certification and played basketball. He worked for Capital Awning Company for 30 years in both the sales and installation departments.
He loved drag racing, fishing, bowling and watching golf. He excelled in bowling, participating in several local leagues. His signature curve ball led him to his highest bowling scores of 298 and 299. His love for drag racing took him and his family on road trips across the United States. He shared his passion for fishing with family and friends, teaching many the joy of casting a line. Ralph also took great pride in maintaining his lawn and vehicles. A true jack of all trades, he was always willing to help others with home improvement projects and automotive work.
Ralph’s faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He was a lifelong and dedicated member of St. Peter Baptist Church in Glen Allen, Virginia, where his family were among the church’s founding members. He served as a junior deacon, former president of the Male Chorus and sang with the S.H. Thompson Memorial Choir. His rich, beloved voice will be deeply missed.
Ralph will be remembered for his generosity, optimism and caring spirit. Despite health challenges, his positivity never wavered. He deeply cherished his friendship with Reverend Shirley Stanley and valued her spiritual encouragement over the years.
Surviving are his four children, Ralph Jr., Michael Sr., Michelle and Melynda; six grandchildren, Alajauan, Jearrin, Diamond, Nyauna, Michael Jr. and Ameira; one great-grandchild arriving in December 2025; two sisters, Joyce and Margaret (Johnny); a host of many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
We will forever hold our memories of Ralph close and find comfort knowing he is at peace.
