Obituary - Peggy Burks Samuel

Peggy Burks Samuel, age 78, of Henrico County, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. She was born on July 15, 1947, in Roanoke, Virginia, the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Burks.

Peggy attended Jefferson High School and later moved to Richmond in her early twenties, where she built a dedicated 37-year career with the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. She was known for her strong work ethic and commitment, but even more so for the kindness and warmth she shared with those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and the rare gift of listening without judgment. She had a deep passion for baking and cooking, often expressing her love through food shared with family and friends. Her home was a place of comfort, care, and welcome.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Steve, and her cherished cat, Lilly; her brother, Billy Burks (Sue);  her sisters, Jean Rife (Charlie),  and Mary Jane Collins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bob Burks.

Peggy will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
